Those who flock to hot sauces and imbibe serious craft beer may now gush over the latest collaborative project to hit the food shelves. Kutztown’s Homesweet Homegrown has teamed up with Downingtown’s Victory Brewing Company to launch Punch Drunk, a brand-spanking-new hot sauce crafted with ghost peppers and Storm King Stout.
It’s all natural, vegan, GMO-free, and better yet, it is one of the first hot sauces to make use of chia seeds—which act as a natural thickener and preservative.
It all started in May 2013, when Robyn Jasko and her husband, Paul, raised more than $50,000 in Kickstarter funds to grow their line of hot sauces. Soon after, Robyn reached out to Victory to source a locally made beer for her popular Punch Drunk flavor, which is made with peppers organically grown without the use of pesticides in nearby Kutztown.
Punch Drunk will be available at the Victory’s Retail Store (found at 420 Acorn Lane, Downingtown), and will soon be on the shelves at Whole Foods in Plymouth Meeting, as well as at several retailers and restaurants in the greater Philadelphia area. You can also purchase the sauces online.
