Our Recommendation: Finch’s Fascist Pig Ale

Where: Uno Chicago Grill, 8 N. Pottstown Pike, Exton, PA

I’d heard about the impressive beer list at Uno’s, and finally had an opportunity to check it out. All these years of living in Chester County, and I’d never stepped foot in this place.

On Tap FinchThe beer list, written on a wall, provided many excellent choices, but I spied one beer I’d never seen before by a brewer I’d never heard of before, so that became the obvious choice. The fact that this beer had a rather unusual name made the decision even easier. How does one pass up a Fascist Pig Ale?

When this ale was poured, it had a nice tan head which fizzled by the time I set it down for my photo. Moderately carbonated, the first sip brought the taste of caramel and malts, followed with moderate spice and ended with a boozy finish that reflected the 8% ABV.

This is a good transitional beer as we make our way into September and the fall months. A few sips gave me the feeling that summer is definitely ending and we should be looking forward to the fall beer line-up, which really is the best beer season of all.

Finch’s Beer Co. is based in Chicago and it looks as though they just started making inroads here on the East Coast. They have an assortment of beers to choose from, including Threadless IPA, Cut Throat Pale Ale and Golden Wing Pale Ale. I’m very interested to try their Secret Stache Stout, which won a Gold Medal at the 2013 US Beer Open Championship, so I’m hoping to see more of Finch’s available in Exton taprooms soon.
