OpenTable is a wonderful resource, there’s no doubt about it, but as all companies should they’re constantly striving to be better. Their most recent move in the delicious food game involved a little help from another popular site and might be just the boost they need.
OpenTable’s CEO, Matt Roberts, recently announced their acquisition of Foodspotting. The app for finding and sharing great dishes collaborated with OpenTable on a fun experiment where photos from Foodspotting were integrated into OpenTable’s site. The result? People were thrilled about having more access to photos when deciding where to dine.
The most obvious thing to do was move forward and continue their relationship. Thus, OpenTable will be working with Foodspotting to design products that enrich the OpenTable experience for diners and provide them with new tools and opportunities to showcase restaurants. They plan to maintain Foodspotting as a separate service.
Keep an eye out for the transition to be made and for more exciting things to come.
