Top 5 Ways to Celebrate Father’s Day

Here’s to you, Dad. You’re the household bug-squasher, sink-fixer, trash-remover, advice-giver and so much more. You deserve to be celebrated this weekend! We’ve rounded up the top 5 ways to do so locally. Kids, take note.

With Wine

Penns Woods Winery and Black Walnut Winery are hosting special events for the oenophile Dad. At Penns Woods, Dad can unleash his creative side in a ceramics class on Saturday or enjoy private wine, cheese, and honey pairings on Sunday. Saturday also features half-off wine tastings for Dad and homemade dishes by the Koi on the Go food truck. Extra specials on Sunday include half-off tastings, live music and brick oven pizza. Find out more here.

You could also take Dad to Black Walnut Winery’s locations in either Phoenixville or Sadsburyville on both Saturday or Sunday for complimentary wine tastings. As an added bonus, Victory Brewing Company will be at Black Walnut on Sunday with free beer samples and delicious grub for purchase. Read more here.

With Beer

Half a rack of baby back ribs, pizza, a brewery tour and a pitcher of beer. Does this sound like something your Dad would love? (We think it sounds like something ALL Dads would love!) Sly Fox Brewery‘s Pottstown Tasting Room, located at 331 Circle of Progress Drive, is offering this special Brew Tour on Sunday for just $30. Reservations are required. Call 484-300-4644 to save your spot.

Over Brunch

Treat Dad to brunch (yes, that means you should pick up the tab) at one of the area’s marvelous restaurants. Here’s some inspiration: Catherine’s Restaurant in Unionville will be serving up a delicious Father’s Day Brunch featuring Grilled Steak Chimichurri, Scrambled Eggs with Manchego Cheese and a complimentary glass of sangria for Dad. Call 610-347-2227 for reservations.

Main Liners may want to check out Wayne’s Paramour for a fabulous Father’s Day brunch that includes a complimentary appetizer bar and build-your-own bloody Mary bar. Or go all out and take Dad for dinner. He’ll love Paramour’s Berkshire Pork Chops, Caramelized Diver Scallops and 20 oz. Porterhouse.

Take a quick trip to Colmar to visit the talented Chef Theo Charitos at his new Red Cedar Grille. On special for Father’s Day is a brunch buffet, running 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. featuring an enticing spread that any dad would gush over. Call (267) 477-1422 for a reservation.

On The Farm

Down-home country types of Dads will love a meal at Wyebrook Farm! The farm in Honeybrook will be featuring steak and eggs and a burger special (with fried egg and ham—yum), as well as the farm’s special housemade virgin Bloody Mary mix; BYO whatever you’d like to add to it! To RSVP, please send the farm an email to let them know you’re coming.

With Free Food

Budget-conscious Dads will be impressed by the loads of local restaurants offering up freebies in his honor. Red Sombrero in West Chester is giving away free cheese nachos with the purchase of any entree from June 16-19. Print this out to claim yours. Kildare’s in both West Chester and Manayunk is offering free “Drunken” Flat Iron Steaks, served with mashed potatoes and steamed vegetables and topped with crispy onions and a brandy peppercorn sauce, to all fathers who dine with them on June 16. At Davio’s in Philadelphia, fathers will have the opportunity to dine alone near the family where they will be presented with a copy of the latest sports page and a complimentary beer. Hard to beat that.

Wild Card

In case you haven’t heard, the US Open is in town! Dad would love a day of golf followed by dining and cocktails. Click here to find the best spots to eat and drink around the US Open. (Tiger Woods sighting not guaranteed.) If your Dad has a passion for flying, take him to FatherFest at the American Helicopter Museum. Indulge in hot dogs, burgers, root beer floats and other summer goodies; check out hot rods, antique cars and motorcycles; and, for a grand finale, go up, up, and away in a helicopter flight for just $40.

We’d love to know what you’re doing this weekend to treat Dad like a king. Tell us below!
