Top Local Spots to Sip a Julep on Kentucky Derby Weekend

The 139th running of the Kentucky Derby is set to take place this Saturday, May 4! Don your fanciest hat and get into the spirit of the Triple Crown at one of these hotspots this weekend:

Paramour (139 E. Lancaster Avenue, Wayne) will be serving Derby-inspired hors d’ouevres, mint juleps and specially reserved wines and sweets as part of its 2nd Annual Kentucky Derby Party. Be sure to try the Kentucky Peach cocktail, concocted with peach-infused Woodford Reserve!

Bordley House Grille (1520 Tattersall Way, West Chester) is serving up Mint Juleps all week in honor of the derby—and Food and Beverage Director’s Katrina Schmidt‘s dad, a Kentucky farm boy. Made with Woodford Reserve Kentucky bourbon, they’re sure to quench your thirst.

Sovana Bistro (696 Unionville Road, Kennett Square) offers a Mint Julep year-round. Concocted with Bulleit Kentucky straight bourbon, natural sugar and fresh mint, it’s simple, delicious and packs a punch!

Rex 1516 (1516 South Street, Philadelphia) has perfected the classic Derby drink; this weekend only, bartender Sweet Lou has created a special version with peach-infused cognac. Both would pair perfectly with the restaurant’s bacon-scallion hush puppies with Cajun aioli—yum!

Oyster House (1516 Sansom Street, Philadelphia) has just launched a new cocktail menu featuring the Sunday Silence Julep, created with Rittenhouse rye, amari, sugar and mint. Or opt for some punch—the Brickhouse Punch, gold rum with ginger beer and lemon.
