Two Female Storytellers Take Home Championship at 4th Annual West Chester Grand Slam

West Chester Story Slam’s 4th Annual Grand Slam ended in a remarkable tie! Luanne Sims and Karen Randall became the first two female storytellers to take home the championship, and will have their names immortalized on the Storytellers Cup.

Karen told the touching story about how she used to watch her mother eat lettuce sandwiches and only learned the reason why years later. Luanne’s hilarious story was about working for an adult diaper company, and a rather awkward meeting she had with the executives one day.

Over 250 people came out to watch the ten storytellers compete in the 2013 Season Finale, which was held Tuesday night at the Chester County Historical Society. The storytelling competitors had each won a story slam earlier in the year. On the second Tuesday of the month, January through October, story slams are held at Side Bar & Restaurant, with a different theme each month. The 2014 schedule and themes will be announced in early December.
