Saturday, July 6 marks yet another food holiday, National Fried Chicken Day, which gives us a good enough excuse to spend the entire day chomping through crunchy, juicy pieces of white and dark meat. If you reside in Philadelphia, or have spent some much-needed time eating through its food playground, you know Federal Donuts is the city’s most acclaimed, trend-setting king of donuts and fried chicken.
Since restaurateurs Steven Cook and Michael Solomonov like to have a lil’ fun every now and then (or often) at this off-the-wall project, both Philly locations of Federal Donuts will celebrate National Fried Chicken Day by giving away 10 Golden Tickets. (Locations found: in Center City at 1632 Sansom Street and in South Philadelphia at 1219 South 2nd Street.)
“As Willy Wonka once said, ‘A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men’—and in his honor, we’ve created these 10 Golden Tickets to celebrate one of our favorite things: fried chicken,” said co-owner/chef Michael Solomonov.
The golden tickets will be distributed among chicken orders at both locations, and the tickets will entitle patrons to nab a variety of prizes (t-shirts, complimentary coffee beans, and for one lucky person, a prize of Free Fried Chicken for Life).
This life-changing giveaway rolls out as of 11 a.m. on July 6, 2013. Every order of the Korean-style fried chicken may contain one of the ten tickets. The diner that wins the ultimate ticket will score one complimentary order of fried chicken weekly for the remainder of their days—and, of course be the envy of everyone in Philly.
