Artists & Entertainment Announced for Kennett Square’s Third Annual Arts Festival (April 26)

Art on the Square, a fine art and craft festival in downtown Kennett Square, returns on Saturday, April 26, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.

Art-on-the-Square-2014The organizers juried 40 regional professional artists into the annual event that specialize in a wide variety of two-dimensional and three-dimensional disciplines: painting, illustration, sculpture, wood, photography, jewelry, pottery, fibers, mixed media, and furniture. Artists will be onsite to promote and sell their original artwork, communicate directly with the public, and represent the diverse culture within the region.

Several Kennett Square galleries and businesses will also be participating in the day’s festivities:

The annual Student Art Exhibit will also run concurrently and will feature student art from local schools and will be open to patrons, April 24–27, 10 a.m.–5 p.m. at 112 E. State Street.

Additionally, local organizations will provide information and activities for the whole family including Bayard Taylor Library (216 E. State Street) and Center for the Creative Arts.

The music entertainment for the day is presented by the Kennett Flash, Kennett Square’s own music venue, which is hosting an all-day singer-songwriter set.

Now in its third year, Art on the Square– a rain-or-shine, open air event– will be located at the intersection of W. State Street and S. Broad Street in downtown Kennett Square. For the first time this year, S. Broad Street will be closed to vehicle traffic so as to expand this growing festival.

Art on the Square coincides with and supports the 49th Annual Kennett Square Plant Sale, hosted by the Kennett Square Beautification Committee. The plant sale is located across E. State Street on the brick walkway beside Genesis HealthCare. Proceeds from the sale contribute to the beautiful flower barrels along the sidewalks throughout downtown Kennett Square.

Art on the Square is presented by Kennett Area Restaurants and Merchants Association (KARMA) with generous support from the Kennett Area Arts Coalition (KAAC) and the Kennett Flash.
