Federal Donuts and Broad Street Ministry are joining forces to create Philly’s first philanthropic restaurant, Rooster Soup Co. This innovative collaboration between two well-known entities in Philadelphia will result in a restaurant whose profits will go entirely to helping the Philadelphia community served by Broad Street Ministry.
In their entertaining and informative Kickstarter campaign promo, Mike Solomonov and Steve Cook of Federal Donuts/CookNSolo Restaurants and Reverend Bill Golderer of Broad Street Ministry explain how this fantastic concept will work. Federal Donuts will take the chicken parts they don’t need and use them in the soups prepared by Rooster Soup Co. All of the profits that Rooster Soup Co. brings in will go directly to Broad Street Ministry to fund the numerous hospitality services the ministry offers to the Philadelphia community. By donating to the Kickstarter campaign, you can help raise funds that will go toward leasing space for Rooster Soup Co. as well as preparing the space and obtaining staff members.
In 2014, Broad Street Ministry will serve about 60,000 meals and provide necessary social service assistance to 3,500 people. This type of assistance takes money to make it possible, and this is where Rooster Soup Co. will provide the answer. Each bowl of soup purchased at Rooster Soup Co. will equate with the cost of one meal/social service assistance to an individual helped by Broad Street Ministry.
