Shake Shack & Marc Vetri’s Limited-Edition Carbonara Burger

Don’t walk…RUN to your nearest Shake Shack and try out the limited edition Carbonara Burger, a scrumptious collaboration between the restaurant and famed Philly chef Marc Vetri.

The 100 percent all-natural beef burger is topped with bacon, Pecorino cheese and a perfectly cooked sunny-side-up egg. The best part (aside from the taste)? A dollar from every burger sold will go to the Vetri Foundation, a registered 501(c)3 organization that works to help kids experience the connection between healthy eating and healthy living.

Carbonara Burger

I recently attended the launch party for the Carbonara Burger at Shake Shack’s University City location (3200 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia), where I met up with the restaurant’s global culinary director Mark Rosati.

Rosati, who spent several months in Philadelphia over the past few years helping to open the various Shake Shack locations,  revealed that this the first time the restaurant has ever collaborated with a chef on a burger.

The chain decided to team up with Marc Vetri because of his long-standing history with Shake Shack. The chef has been vocal about his appreciation for the brand and is known to visit the King of Prussia location with his son most Saturday mornings after karate practice. Vetri also popped in to the opening of Shake Shack’s London location while on vacation with his family.

In addition to the staple burger, the event featured other Philly favorites such as Victory Swing beer and cannoli from Termini Brothers. After finding out that I had never tried Shake Shack’s signature Concrete dessert, which is made up of dense frozen custard ice cream blended at a high speed with mix-ins, Rosati immediately had his favorite, The Liberty Shell, mixed for me. The local treat is mixed with Termini Brothers’ cannoli shells and strawberry puree and was absolutely divine.

The special edition Carbonara Burger is available at all three Philadelphia-area Shake Shack locations (2000 Sansom Street, 3200 Chestnut Street and at the King of Prussia Mall) and will only be available through June 15 for $6.75. Don’t miss out!
