STARR Restaurants’ “Support Our Schools” Fundraiser Meets $100,000 Goal

Stephen Starr is a well-known name in the Philadelphia culinary industry. Along with operating quite a few restaurants in the area, he is also known for his philanthropic nature.

In March, Starr launched a fundraising initiative to benefit The School District of Philadelphia, in which patrons at any STARR restaurant could lend a hand by adding a donation to their check at the end of their meals.

Just recently, it was announced that the goal of $100,000 was met! The School District of Philadelphia will receive much-needed funds to aid in the daily operations and help the District pursue its educational goals.

The funds raised will go toward helping three Philadelphia schools/programs. Mitchell Elementary School will receive part of the donation to initiate Playworks, a socialized recess program. Lea Elementary School will receive funds to refurbish its technology lab and obtain 30 new computers. Strawberry Mansion High School will use the funds to supply seven students with WorkReady Philadelphia internships.

This isn’t all that Stephen Starr is doing in the way of fundraising to benefit city residents and schools. On June 4 and 5, “Support Our Schools” fundraising will continue with the “Dunkel Dare” event at Frankford Hall. This is another great way in which Stephen Starr is lending a hand and helping The School District of Philadelphia meet its educational goals.
