Restaurant to Hit This Holiday in York, Pennsylvania: Otto’s Kitchen

Otto's Kitchen and Cocktails

Otto’s Kitchen and Cocktails opened in September at the site of the former Bistro 19 in downtown York. Owner Rob Burrito called upon Chef Sarah Acconcia to act as chef consultant for the eatery. Acconcia, a contestant on Food Network’s Beat Bobby Flay as well as Baltimore City Paper’s “Best Chef” in 2014, has prepared a menu featuring what she describes as “a new take on American comfort favorites, with a signature nod to the American South.” Before consulting at Otto’s, Acconcia was executive chef at both Le Garage and 13.5% Wine Bar, acted as sous chef at Maggie’s Farm and mastered the wood oven at the award-winning Woodberry Kitchen.

For behind the bar, Burrito enlisted long-time friend and Pittsburgh powerhouse bartender Erika “Jiggerfingers” Joyner. A York native, Joyner moved back from Pittsburgh to work with Burrito on Otto’s. Joyner was on the opening bar staff at Salt of the Earth and Butcher and the Rye—two notable New American restaurants in Pittsburgh. The signature cocktail list includes fun drinks such as the Earth, Fire, Air & Watermelon—a concoction of gin, yellow chartreuse, jalapeno, watermelon, pickled-ginger brine and soda water, garnished with mint.
