From restaurant owner to food truck operator, Michael Falcone is back in the restaurant game with his latest spot, Morrell Park, opening in Phoenixville this fall. Named for the part of Northeast Philly where Falcone grew up, he said, “We want it to be a casual, neighborhood spot with a sense of community. That’s how my neighborhood in Morrell Park was growing up.”
The food will be similar to what was served at his previous restaurant in Pottstown, Funky Lil Kitchen, mixed with offerings from his food truck, HEART. “Seasonal, local, sustainable, using small farms and purveyors whenever possible and allowing what they have to dictate the menu,” as Falcone put it. Even though Morrell Park’s menu will be seasonal and ever-changing, there will be a few staples to count on throughout the year, such as a pork roll, egg and smoked cheddar sandwich that will be available all day. “The menu will be made up of sandwiches, small plates, snacks and sides. We’re catering to carnivores, vegetarians and vegans,” Falcone added.
Stylistically, the new location will be somewhere between a restaurant and a food truck, meaning counter service and no waitstaff. Guests will come in, order food and wait for their names to be called. Dine-in orders will be served with flatware and dishes, while takeaway food will be served in compostable or recycled containers with similar utensils.
The new location is right in the thick of things. There are 171 apartments on site, a new neighborhood of 320 homes across the street (and a brewery!) and downtown Phoenixville just a short drive away. Falcone knew this was the right spot for his tribute to Morrell Park.

“The interior will be a combination of vintage pieces, antiques and some modern accents, representing the home and neighborhood I grew up in. There will be some kitsch to it, but it won’t be over the top. The decor will be a fun eclectic mix of pieces that have meaning to me and a cool, unique decor the customers will appreciate,” he says.
When asked about his ultimate goals for Morrell Park, Falcone said, “We want to be whatever you want us to be. I feel we will have something for everyone. If you want a great cup of coffee and breakfast on your way to work, we’ll have that. If you want to BYO with a group of friends on Saturday night for a well-executed casual meal, you can do that here.”
Michael’s homey BYOB is just a few short months away from opening its doors. Morrell Park will be open Monday through Saturday for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
You can find Morrell Park at 420 Schuylkill Rd. in Phoenixville.
