
Great news for fans of pizza and whiskey: The Fig and Barrel will be opening in York in the former space of Zakie’s Nightclub at 25-27 W. Market Street. The gastropub will focus on a menu of wood-fired pizzas and have an extensive whiskey list.
The new venture is owned by Nathan and Lisa Novak. Lisa is quite familiar with the restaurant business as her family has owned Sal’s Pizza and Subs in Hanover for many years. Nathan is a whiskey connoisseur with an affinity for scratch-made pre-Prohibition Era cocktails.
The large 3000-square-foot space will undergo significant renovations including building a huge wall to house the whiskey bottles and an addition of a long bar and seating for 70.
The Fig and Barrel is planning to open in the fall.
