Hatch—A Sanctuary for Motherhood Opens in Wayne with Fitness, Educational & Support Programs for Women

Hatch—A Sanctuary for Motherhood, a unique motherhood membership community created for expectant moms and post-partum women in the Delaware Valley, recently opened in Wayne. Created by a group of mission-driven medical experts collaborating to provide evidence-based knowledge, Hatch offers comprehensive fitness programs, wellness and educational support during one of the most important times of a woman’s life: childbearing years.

Hatch programs are specifically intended to help moms achieve a healthier pregnancy and transition to motherhood. Hatch will help expectant mothers strengthen their bodies as they grow, inspire their spirits to glow and empower their minds to know—hence the Hatch tag line: Grow, Glow, Know.

At Hatch, members will have access to expert professional guidance via a registered OB/GYN nurse, educational classes and customized exercise programs led by some of the region’s leading maternal health and wellness specialists.

Hatch members will benefit from individualized attention to their specific needs and concerns in a nurturing sanctuary environment comprised of women sharing similar experiences. Upon joining, women will receive a customized onboarding session with their own personal concierge, an OB/GYN nurse, to test and assess strengths and weaknesses, provide an overview of the path and timeline and answer any questions. Using this information, a customized wellness program will be designed to strengthen, align and restore the expectant and new mother.

Members then receive an initial customized session with a fitness professional, who will design a program that will evolve with them throughout their pregnancy and into a strong postpartum recovery. Members will also have access to a nutritionist and a nutritional guide. Additionally, members will have 24/7 email access to their concierge throughout the duration of their membership.

Specific exercise program offerings include:

  • Pregnancy and post-partum fitness classes
  • Pelvic floor strengthening and rejuvenation
  • Post-partum rehabilitation and “Mom and Me” classes
  • Pregnancy and post-partum Pilates Reformer classes
  • Private fitness instruction

As many as 25 educational and support classes will be available, presented by doctors, registered nurses and other clinicians. Some of the classes include:

  • Breastfeeding classes
  • Sleep consulting
  • CPR classes
  • Childbirth classes
  • Nutrition

The inspiration to empower expecting mothers came after Radhika Kakarla, M.D., a board-certified OB/GYN with 20 years of experience, recognized a need for a more integrative approach to pregnancy and post-partum care. “Hatch is a community that is committed to supporting and educating mothers, helping to create a balanced and healthier life, stronger family and a better world. Our mission is to provide a sanctuary where expectant and new mothers come for support, education and exercise, providing a nurturing experience for moms and babies, helping to facilitate the best of outcomes,” said Kakarla.

“Hatch provides a trusted, collaborative and supportive environment for pregnant and postpartum women that nurtures the bond between head, heart and womb through community, education and self-care,” said Kelly McBride, executive director of Hatch. “Our team of expert partners helps to bridge the gap between conventional and integrative care for mothers.”
