Iron Hill Media: Fresh Look, Fresh Brews

Walk into the newly renovated Iron Hill Media and find a spiffy, spruced-up look and your favorite craft beers flowing freely from the taps.

In just 10 short days, the changes are remarkable. The front dining room and bar area have been completely expanded and opened up, creating a new, exciting vibe for guests.

Senior general manager Jordan DeMaio has been with Iron Hill for a decade, and he couldn’t be more pleased to welcome guests to experience the transformation.

“We revamped this vast space to create a cocktail bar atmosphere,” he says. “It used to be a more formal dining area, but now there’s more energy. The excitement is what we’re chasing.”

Adding to the lively feel are the so-called “community tables.”

“The long, dark wood tables are reminiscent of beer halls, which are becoming increasingly popular these days. They invite a community feel,” says DeMaio. “They’re versatile. You can have a table of 14, or seven groups of two. It’s great for sharing, hanging out with friends or meeting new people.”

Another intriguing, eye-catching renovation is the open brewery. Large glass windows allow patrons to watch the brewers in action. Only two Iron Hill locations, Media and Huntingdon Valley, have this stand-out component.

Walk toward the back of the restaurant and you’ll find a new, intimate nook especially designed for private dinners. The space features a u-shaped booth for up to eight guests.

Head to the back room, and you’ll find the partition wall is gone and it’s much more spacious, perfect for a private party.

You’ll also see fresh carpet throughout and vibrant new accents painted on the walls.

So far so good in the eyes, and palates, of guests.

“It’s still the casual, upscale spot people know and love to get great beer and food,” DeMaio says.

The menu will not change, just yet. DeMaio says in the coming months, expect to see all Iron Hill locations to add innovative choices while continuing to delight with diners’ all-time favorites. In the meantime, he says, look for seasonal specials, including “Steak & Stout,” which started on Friday, January 20.

“Pair a hearty, prime-cut steak with our Russian Imperial Stout,” DeMaio says. Steak selections on offer through February 5 include:

  • Pan-roasted NY strip steak with bacon and smoked cheddar smashed potatoes, wilted spinach, shallot-herb butter and fried onion strings
  • Pan-seared filet mignon (8 oz. Angus cut) with parsnip-potato mash, garlicky broccolini and cremini mushroom sauce
  • Char-grilled hanger steak with fried brussels sprouts with warm bacon vinaigrette, roasted new potatoes and blue cheese butter
  • Char-grilled flank steak with house cut Parmesan-garlic fries, grilled portobello-vidalia onion relish and chimichurri
  • Red chile-rubbed flat iron steak with smoked cheddar mac ‘n cheese, tri-colored peppers and onions and chipotle-lime sauce

The Russian is one of the few canned beers on Iron Hill’s menu. On your way out, be sure to check out the new case by the hostess desk and take some cold ones to go.
