Winter, schminter! Ice cream is definitely a year round food! To prove our point, we’ve rounded up some local ice cream treats that are keeping our summer spirits alive, whatever the weather. Check them out:

Rolled Cold Creamery is on a mission—an ice cream mission—to create more than just unique ice cream. It wants to give each customer a handcrafted, fresh and exceptional dessert. How does Rolled Cold do that? Each creamy creation is made to order by thinly spreading cream on a freezing cold pan (which turns it into ice cream) and mixing in your favorite ice cream toppings to create a unique flavor found only in your bowl. While you’re there, you can also pick up a cup of coffee to warm back up! 24 E. Orange St., Lancaster; (717) 208-3805.
Weckerly’s, Philadelphia

Weckerly’s … where ice cream dreams come true! Recently, Weckerly’s announced a new daily special at its shop in Fishtown: a scoop and half-sandwich of your choice for only $6.25! This diner-inspired combo will be offered through the winter. We recommend a scoop of apple sorbet with a half of a caramel apple sandwich. But that’s just us. 9 W. Girard Ave., Philadelphia; (215) 423-2000.
Steel City Coffeehouse, Phoenixville
Steel City Coffeehouse, known for its coffee, live entertainment and dynamite food, also offers homemade cakes, rice krispies treats, scones, and as of recently, artisan ice cream made right in its kitchen. High-quality ice cream is always in season, like the pumpkin cheesecake with salted caramel: homemade spiced fleur de sel caramel ice cream served with candied pepitas (pictured above). Other flavors include Turkish sweet coffee, spiced apple bourbon and chai tea latte. Sounds like we’re going to be making weekly trips to Phoenixville! 203 Bridge St., Phoenixville; (484) 924-8425.
Fox Meadows, Lancaster

Fox Meadows Creamery features handcrafted ice cream made on site with milk from its small dairy farm, just across the field. The Fox Meadows philosophy: happy cows make tasty ice cream. And it tastes like the happiest cows live on that farm! From chocolaty to fruity to nutty to spicy, there’s a flavor to delight every taste bud. Keep it simple and enjoy your ice cream in a cone or dish, or try a homemade waffle cone or bowl. Feeling wild? Try a Baked Fox: ice cream sandwiched between brownies, chocolate chip cookies or seasonal specials like snickerdoodles or apple fritters. 2475 W. Main St., Ephrata; 717-721-6455.

Since 1945, Handel’s Homemade Ice Cream has been made fresh every day on-site, using exclusive products, equipment, methods and recipes. Each batch is made in freezers specifically designed to create Handel’s distinctively smooth and creamy texture, and you can taste the difference! One of the best ways to enjoy Handel’s fantastic homemade ice cream is in the form of a pop. These little beauties are perfect little bites: ice cream covered in rich, dark gourmet chocolate and served on a stick! Handel’s offers four flavors at all times: vanilla, chocolate, mint chocolate chip and a special flavor of the month, like Pumpkin Ripple. Stop in and try what Handel’s is dipping. 576 Lancaster Ave., Berwyn; (610) 640-1606 & 2310 S. Queen St., York; (717) 741-1300.

In addition to ice cream, Bank Street Creamery also offers vegan gelato in flavors like cookies ‘n’ cream, peanut butter fudge and strawberry chocolate chip. And the sundaes … don’t even get us started on these sundaes! Whether you’re a kid or a kid at heart, you have to make the Dirt and Worm Sundae a part of your life: vanilla ice cream with dirt (chocolate crunchies), chocolate syrup, whipped cream, gummy worms and more dirt. It tastes like childhood summers. 15 S. Bank St., Easton; 610-252-5544.

We also know the inside of the shop looks whimsical, which is the perfect pairing to any scoop, bowl or boat of ice cream.
