Tomato, basil and mozzarella are a timeless trio of farm-fresh flavors. As toppings on a burger, these ingredients offer a subtle change from the norm, with creamy Pennsylvania mozzarella cheese on the patty, a gentle basil leaf crunch, and the juicy sweetness of vine ripened tomatoes. Balsamic glaze offers a sweet-tangy finish.
If you’d like a spot of wine with your burger, try a Pennsylvania Cabernet Franc, with its acidity and soft tannins. A refreshing Pennsylvania pale ale goes great, too, with citrus hops for contrast.

Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds Pennsylvania ground beef
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 slices Pennsylvania mozzarella cheese
- 4 brioche burger buns, toasted
- 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
- 4 slices Pennsylvania tomatoes
- Fresh Pennsylvania basil leaves
- 1/4 cup balsamic glaze
Method
- Combine ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder and oregano in a medium bowl until ingredients are evenly distributed. Portion mixture into 4 even burger patties.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the burgers until desired doneness is reached, about 4-5 minutes per side, or until internal temperature reaches 160°F for a well-done burger. Remove from heat and top each patty with a slice of mozzarella cheese.
- Onto each bottom burger bun spread about 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise. Top with burger patties, tomato and basil leaves. Drizzle with balsamic glaze and top with bun. Serve and enjoy!
