Ingredients
- 1 cup cooked split peas, mashed
- 1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs, or panko breadcrumbs
- 1/2 yellow onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, finely chopped, or 1 teaspoon jarred minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon paprika, optional
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or vegetable oil
Method
- Combine split peas, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, soy sauce, paprika, cumin, salt and pepper in a large bowl until well-combined.
- Portion mixture into 3-4 pieces, and pat into compact burger patties. Set aside.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add patties in a single layer and cook until golden brown and heated through, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove from heat and serve.
