Day of Breakfast

When I woke up the first thing I did was check for bug bites. I searched my body and discovered four large bumps on my leg. I heard Patty cleaning in the kitchen and called out, “Pat, how do you know if you got a bite from a “bad” bug?”

“When did you notice them? In the middle of the night or just now?”

I thought back to earlier this morning and itching my leg so I responded, ” I guess I got them in the middle of the night.”

“You’re fine,” she replied without hesitation.

“But you didn’t even look at them.”

“If it was a really “bad” bug something would have happened to you by now.”

“I see.”

And with that I joined P.P. and Patty in the sitting area to discuss the day’s plans. The only plan we came up with was breakfast. I love days like this.

Patty took us to her favorite breakfast place in the town. We walked down the dirt streets and into the town center. She had whole grain waffles (yum! I know they were yum because I snuck a bite) and I had a large plate of fresh fruit with homemade yogurt and granola (also homemade and made with chopped peanuts!) P.P. had a breakfast sandwich and we all sipped freshly brewed coffee that was so good even the mug was smiling.

Side story: Next to the breakfast place was the local open-air jail where a man was yelling through the bars. P.P. and I lost it when Patty casually mentioned, “Oh man, that guy is ALWAYS in jail.”

After breakfast we walked down by the sea to see where Patty worked. During our walk we stopped by to visit her local “soy guy.” (Not only a fudge boy but now a soy guy… she’s so lucky.) He told us about his products and baked goods and then we moved on to dine on some of Patty’s favorite shrimp quesadillas. They were delish!

All the eating and walking made for perfect hammocking so that’s exactly what we did. The afternoon breeze felt wonderful on the porch of her cozy home. I got just enough rest before the neighborhood boys began playing frisbee and, of course I had to join them.

The Final Dish: Patty after having lunch, “Yup, I must get those at least seven more times before I go home. They are so good.”
