Kennett Square is Tasting Great!

Hello, and thank you for visiting Kennett Square. Here is a list of our specials:

  • This Month: Mushrooms
  • Next Month: Beer

Mushrooms

I didn’t arrive in Kennett Square (KS) Saturday until after 3 pm. My first stop was the already famous (deservedly so, even though they opened their doors six short months ago) Tulula’s Table. Sarah, a fellow WC Disher, is happily employed at this adorably delicious gourmet food shop and had asked me to stop by. I am SO glad I did.

On their menu for the festival was mushroom and brie crepes, mushroom bread pudding, amazingly-tender chicken and mushroom sandwiches on made-that-morning rolls and mushroom lasagna.

I could, and should, go on and on about the goodness that I discovered at this KS gem but I have to table (no pun intended) the description of this fresh, yet broken-in and want-to taste everything-in-sight, store for another article.

I wandered down the festival’s main street, armed with my map, to check out the other offerings. Mushroom-infused ice cream, potato chips, soups, pizzas, pastas, poppers and salads tempted my senses from every direction.

As I maneuvered through the maze of people, crafters and food booths I noted the offerings and then savored every bite of a mushroom and brie crepe, mushroom lasagne, fried-mushroom poppers and even some cream of mushroom ice cream! I also was fortunate to taste my friend’s chicken and mushroom sandwich and enjoyed just a spoonful of pumpkin-mushroom ice cream.

Everything was shroom-tastic and filling. So much so that I couldn’t possibly taste another mushroom treat. I was planning to return Sunday for round two, but I just couldn’t swing it.

I do know that I’ll be in KS again soon to savor all the goodness of Talula’s Table, and next month for the Kennett Brewfest. For more information check out the listing in our Other Food News column — Kenett Brewfest in October. Thank you, Kennett Square, for tasting so darn good!

The Final Dish: Congrats Laura, for spotting me at the festival and winning a WC Dish prize! Hope you had a yummy time!
