Locals compete to become the Philadelphia area’s top karaoke singer
MALVERN, Pa. – (March 24, 2010) – You’ve watched aspiring performers transform into singing sensations on national TV. Now, grab a front row seat to watch the local action at McKenzie Brew House’s American Karaoke Idol. The award-winning restaurant invites both promising singing stars and karaoke fans to its annual karaoke competition, one of the largest in the region. American Karaoke Idol kicks off Thursday, April 8 at McKenzie’s Malvern and Chadds Ford locations starting at 9 p.m. Local karaoke enthusiasts are challenged to belt out their all-time favorites songs for a chance to win a $500 grand prize. Audience members are invited to be part of the judging process, while enjoying Karaoke Idol-inspired cocktails and beer specials.
The American Karaoke Idol preliminary evenings are scheduled for April 8, April 15, April 22 and April 29, followed by the finale on May 6. Guests are invited to walk-in and sign-up for a song, whether it’s rocking out to Led Zeppelin or crooning to one of Taylor Swift’s country ballads. At the conclusion of each preliminary night, the audience will select two contestants from each McKenzie location to move on to the finals. While watching the performances, attendees can sip on a variety of Karaoke-Idol inspired cocktails, including The Kelly (Clarkson); The Carrie (Underwood); and The Adam (Lambert).
Sixteen finalists will perform favorite songs during the finale, to be held on May 6 at McKenzie Brew House Malvern. Music industry experts and local celebrities will judge the finalists, narrowing down the group through several rounds. The McKenzie American Karaoke Idol Star will receive the $500 grand prize. Additional prizes will be provided, including $250 for 2nd place and $100 for 3rd place.
