Last Call Bags, manufactured by Kate Young and Ericka Downs of West Chester, pack a fun and earth-friendly lineup of recycled, locally-made, reusable totes perfect for your farmers’ market and grocery store shopping.
All of the crafters’ handmade bags are one-of-a-kinds, constructed from the polypropylene grain sacks that deliver wheat and barley malts to local brew pubs. Young’s fantastic idea of turning these sacks into awesome lightweight totes easily wins my must-have-bag vote, especially because they are sourced from Iron Hill Brewery in West Chester, PA; Sly Fox in Royersford, PA; Stewart’s in Bear, DE; Flying Fish in Cherry Hill, NJ; and Dogfish Head in Milton, DE.
Last Call Bags’ even reveal that “many [of the bags] still contain grains of barley and a wonderful smell.”
I personally am loving the Weyermann German Malt Bag, which was given to the crafters by Head Brewer Larry Horwitz of Iron Hill West Chester, when they wandered in for an impromptu tour of the operation.
