I recently drove out to Jennersville to have breakfast with my friend Mark. Knowing my interest in discovering new dining experiences, he suggested we meet at the Corner Cafe in Jennersville, where he has enjoyed the fresh food and amiable service.
Corner Cafe sits at the end of a shopping center called the Shoppes of Jenners Village, only three minutes from Route 1. Inside the cafe, a mahogany counter lines the right wall, and the shelves are filled with mugs and small gifts for purchase. The cafe is painted vibrant colors, and is clean and inviting.
The waitress gave us time to look over the menus, but we started catching up for a bit. She checked in twice and we hadn’t looked at the menus yet, so she suggested we close the menus when we were ready to order, “so I don’t keep bothering you.” She said with a grin.
After two cups of coffee and some quality conversation, we finally took time to order our breakfast.
I ordered the Kennett Omelet ($7.99). This omelet has a sauteed mushroom medley and cheese folded into the three fresh eggs. I chose Swiss cheese. The mushroom medley included sauteed tasty Portabellos sliced up just right. The omelet came with home fries and toast (seen to the right). The presentation was simple, with good portions.
Mark opted for the Cafe Breakfast of Two Eggs, which consisted of eggs, home fries and pork roll ($6.99; seen below). It’s been a long time since I ate any pork roll and it looked very good.
Corner Cafe offers a good assortment of cafe breakfasts and build your own omelets. They also make a variety of pancakes, waffles and even a Hawaiian Sweetbread French Toast for $6.99. It turns out the Corner Cafe used to be Aloha Cafe before it’s current incarnation.
For those interested in lunch (or dinner on Thursday and Friday), Corner Cafe has soups, quesadillas and wraps, specialty sandwiches, burgers and club sandwiches. They have a few specialty sandwiches that look appealing. The Mahi Mahi sandwich for $8.49 can be done grilled or fried and comes on choice of kaiser roll or a wrap. They also offer a hand carved rib eye sandwich that is topped with caramelized onions, Portabella mushrooms and provolone cheese for $8.99.
We ended up chatting just as long after breakfast, with the waitress happy to refill my coffee cup. This is a good morning spot for conversation of country breakfasts in a friendly setting.
Find the Corner Cafe at 827 Old Baltimore Pike in West Grove.
