Attend Firebird Clay Bird and Egg Workshops at Phoenix Village Art Center

Take part in making your own unique clay bird that will be fired beneath the giant burning phoenix that is the heart of the 8th Annual Firebird Festival!

Open to all levels of experience, this workshop guides students, ages 13 to adults, in the making of a handcrafted clay bird. Come to the festival knowing your clay bird is buried beneath the flames. After they’ve retrieved the birds from the ashes of the phoenix on December 11th, the one you created is yours to keep!

Class is $25 per person. All materials and tools are provided. Payment is required at time of registration. Register by calling Phoenix Village Art Center at 610-983-9430!

The following workshop dates are taking shape soon:

  • Thursday, December 1st 6:00-7:30 pm
  • Saturday, December 3rd   1:00-2:00 pm

Better yet, courses still remain to sculpt firebird eggs, as well! Be a part of a new tradition, as they create firebird egg shakers that will help summon the fire at the Firebird Festival. Starting with just a ball of clay, you will make your own hollow clay egg that rattles. Each will be unique with the simple or complex textures and flourishes you choose to add.

Firebird egg shakers will be ready for pick-up at Phoenix Village Art Center on December 9th and 10th. They invite you to bring your handmade shaker to the festival and rattle it with all your might leading up to the lighting of the bird! (Note: The firebird egg shaker is yours to keep.)

No clay experience is necessary for this class. Cost is $20 per student, for ages 8-12 years. All materials and tools are provided for this course, too. Payment is required at time of registration.

Egg workshops dates that remain open, are as follows:

  • Saturday, December 3rd   1:00-2:00 pm

And, for families with participants in both workshops, they’ve scheduled simultaneous Firebird Egg and Clay Bird workshops on Saturday, December 3rd. With this option, the whole family (ages 8 through adults) can attend workshops on the same day.

All workshops will be held at Phoenix Village Art Center (207 Bridge Street, Phoenixville) and registration is required for both. Call the center at 610-983-9430 to register or click here for more details.
