Opening Day at Anselma Farmers and Artisans Market

In 2008, The Anselma Farmers and Artisan Market Association established a weekly, seasonal market on the grounds of The Mill at Anselma, a National Historic Landmark in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania. In collaboration with The Mill at Anselma and Maysie’s Farm Conservation Center, they believe their market continues to benefit the communities of northeast Chester County as it brings together a growing number of local farmers in an open air environment to provide fresh, local, and seasonal foods and products to local consumers along the economic spectrum.

The Mill at Anselma provides a perfect setting to teach people the value local food production and farming, as well as to connect them with the area’s rich agricultural heritage. Their belief is that the local farms, farmlands, and farming as a way of life in Chester County, Pennsylvania can only be preserved by educating the fast-growing population and creating a community in which children and adults can learn the value of preparing and eating quality, locally produced foods and foodstuffs.

They are very excited to re-open their seasonal market on Wednesday, May 25, 2011. As in previous years, the market will be open every Wednesday from 2 – 6 pm in The Mill’s front field and will feature locally grown and organic produce, great food, and hand-crafted goods.

The market will run through October 26, featuring vendors including Dia Doce, Brogue Hydroponics, MomPops, Frecon Farms (starting mid June), Side Stitch by Ginny, Pureblend Tea, Smith Produce, Fresh-a-Peel Hummus, Golden Valley Farms Organic Coffee, MacDougall’s Irish Victory Cakes, and many more.
