Portabello’s Updates The Menu

I stopped in at Portabello’s in Kennett Square yesterday. The new owner/chef, Brett Hulbert, was chatting with some long-time Portabello’s customers. His wife and partner, Sandra Morris, immediately urged me to sample some of the new soups on the menu.

She laid out a soup tapas tasting for me! I sampled the Wild Mushroom and the Tuscan White Bean. They were bold and flavorful soups that will warm diners on these brisk fall days. Brett made his way over to chat and told me “people have been asking, ‘what’s the soup today?'”

When we chatted a few weeks ago, Brett explained he would be keeping the most popular dishes on the menu while adding new entrees and expanding the menu. Yesterday, he reviewed the updated menu with me.

The famed Lobster Ravioli is still at the top of the menu and The Linguine Tutto Mare is also available. Brett has introduced new pasta dishes such as Rigatoni Pomodoro and Ricotta Gnocchi into the dinner menu. He also has added Veal Saltimbocca, Delmonico Steak and fresh fish options.

Portabello’s has also created a new lunch menu with diverse offerings of fish tacos, Sicilian hoagies, reuben paninis and more all at reasonable prices for the local lunch crowd. If you haven’t yet, stop by and check out their soups and lunch, and see how Brett and Sandra are evolving this fine dining establishment.
