Flowers Foods, who you may know under their marketing names of Nature’s Own, Blue Bird or Cobblestone Mill, announced today that the merger is an all-cash deal that carries the hope of broadening the Tastykake audience with a national reach, allowing those around the country to discover the tasty treats we here in Pennsylvania have come to know and love as some of the best snack cakes, donuts, pies and cookies around.
Flowers Foods, based in Georgia, acquired all outstanding shares of Tastykake as part of the deal that is expected to strengthen the business of both companies as a result of their new combined geographic footprint. Flowers Foods is excited to continue to grow the Tastykake brand while keeping the bakeries and Pennsylvania operations in tact. It’s music to our ears that Kandy Kakes and Krimpets are not going away! It’s a bittersweet day as we learn about the sale of a legend while snacking on an Iced Mega Honey Bun.
