Moon Krapugthong has been planning the opening of her Japanese restaurant for what seems like ages and it’s soon ready to take off. She is expecting Yanako to open on July 20 at 4255 Main St. The Chef spot will go to Chef Haruo Ige, who’s been “in residence” at Chabaa Thai. He’s said to have exceptional skills in the kitchen and will most likely make himself right at home in this new spot.
The restaurant venue will include a bi-level space and an 18-foot sushi bar. It’s sleek and sexy design was created by a team of Philadelphia University architecture graduates.
Krapugthong has had this Manayunk project in mind for some time but had delays in finding the proper location. After closing MangoMoon a year ago, the posh Asian eatery spot was quickly filled by Gemelli on Main, but Moon’s restaurant void was not. Her determination and love for food will finally pay off in the next couple weeks and we encourage you to get in on the action by stopping by for a bite.
