While all the London Olympic hype was busy crowding up world wide news, it just so happens a British infused murder might have been unfolding in Kennett Square. Who’s guilty? You’ll have to stop by the free Murder Mystery Art Stroll this Friday to find out.
The popular event, sponsored by the Kennett Amateur Theatrical Society (KATS) and Historic Kennett Square, is unfolding August 3rd. This year’s interactive mystery, entitled Pride and Prejudice (and Zombies), begins at 6:30 p.m. Participants can meet the detective at the scene of the crime, the Genesis Walkway at 101 East State Street, as he discovers the “body” and sets the scene for the “whodunit.” Follow along with the KATS players in order to gather clues. Then stroll through downtown Kennett Square in order to question various murder suspects in participating downtown shops, marked by red and black balloons. The true identify of the murderer will be revealed back in the Genesis Walkway at the end of the evening.
Participation is free and all ages are welcome to the Murder Mystery Art Stroll. Pick up a map to find the shop locations were the cast will be waiting. There will also be general suspect information and a worksheet to help solve the crime. After determining the holes in the stories from questions and answers plus clues provided by the detective and other characters, participants may submit their guess. Winners will be randomly selected and awarded prizes at the end of the evening.
While “characters” from the Murder Mystery will utilize local shops as their stage, the stores, galleries, and restaurants will also be open late for browsing, art openings, live music, and dining. Many businesses are holding summer sales, so it’s a great time to find bargains and shop for back-to-school items. Come enjoy the First Friday fun with a mysterious twist!
