Our Recommendation: Lagunitas Brewing Company’s Dogtown Pale Ale
Where: Picasso’s Restaurant and Bar, 36 West State Street, Media, PA
How do you add some hops to the dog days of summer?
Stop in a Picasso’s for a taste of Dogtown Pale Ale. This hoppy American Pale Ale, which was a handwritten addition to the beer list on Saturday night, awakened my taste buds from the first sip. The ale poured a light copper color, with a frothy head that survived the trip to our table. A hint of citrus hit the palate first, followed by the long, slow hoppy finish. I had chosen Picasso’s crab cake sandwich for dinner, and the light pale ale (at 6.2% ABV) proved a worthy accompaniment.
Lagunitas Brewing is based out of Petaluma, California, which is about forty miles north of San Francisco in Sonoma County. They have a taproom and brewery tour, so it sounds like a good chance to mix it up on your next tour of wine country!
Also to note, if you’d like to try a broader range of beers from Picasso’s tap list, check them out on Wednesdays, when they offer a flight of beers. Four-ounce samplings of any five craft beers for $10.
Picasso Restaurant and Bar is open for dinner on Tuesday through Saturday, from 5 – 9:30 p.m., and on Sundays from 5 – 8 p.m. They are reachable by phone at 610-891-9600, or you can make a reservation through OpenTable by clicking here.
