While many folks believe a food co-op is a fairly modern creation, Swarthmore Co-op’s upcoming celebration proves otherwise!
The Swarthmore Co-op, located in the borough of Swarthmore, is celebrating their 75th Anniversary on October 13th from 8 a.m. until 9:30 p.m. The event will take place at the Co-op (341 Dartmouth Avenue), and will include fun highlights like an All-American bake off, caramel apple making and pumpkin painting.
In recognizing their founding in 1937, the Co-op invites members and non-members to step back in time with discounts and activities inspired by their founding era. In addition to their food focused happenings, guests will be able to check out the Swarthmore Fire Department’s antique fire truck and enjoy live music. 1930s style food & drinks will definitely be available for sampling so bring your appetite.
In the evening they plan to have a down-home shindig; a catered and ticketed BYOH (Bring Your Own Hooch) dinner, followed by an after-party with dessert, live band, dancing, and celebrating. It’s an all day affair! Bring the entire family!
