Aren’t you always fascinated when realizing your mom’s advice was right all along, even ten years later? Some things just never change. In fact, Design Sponge recently shared her love for the retro book, All Things Wise & Wonderful, as published in 1975. This trusty guide features home tips that still hold true today. Here are some of our favorites:
- Place cracked china in a pan of milk and boil for 45 minutes; crack will disappear and dish will become stronger.
- Raw mushrooms can be sliced evenly and quickly with an egg slicer
- To cut fresh bread, heat the serrated knife.
- Cheese can be sliced thinner with a dull knife.
- Save your old kitchen sponges, cut into one-inch squares, and use to cover the drain hole in your flower pots. Keeps soil in and slows down the drying out process.
