Firecreek Closes Doors, Dave Magrogan to Open Locally Focused Italian Bistro

It’s official—Firecreek Restaurant + Bar will be closing its doors this month. Look for the last day to be some time around June 17, according to management.

Now for the great news: Dave Magrogan has announced that he will be taking over the location to open Stella Rossa Ristorante, a 7,000-square-foot, 350-seat Italian bistro, in July!

“At Stella Rossa, guests will experience the art of Italian dining,” said Magrogan. Modern and traditional dishes will be prepared with fresh, local ingredients. Artisan cheese, charcuterie and olives will be sourced by Philadelphia’s Di Bruno Brothers, and the bar will feature an extensive collection of Italian wines, international craft beers and specialty cocktails.

Stella Rossa will tap into the network of farmers, fishermen and artisan purveyors that Magrogan has cultivated since opening his farm-to-table Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar in Glen Mills, Pa., in May 2010.  “By working with local farmers, Stella Rossa will utilize the freshest products available,” noted Magrogan. “Guests will enjoy a true Italian experience featuring inventive pasta dishes, house made mozzarella, innovative salads and seasonally changing wood-fired Neapolitan pizzas, entrees and appetizers.”

Magrogan spent three years searching for the right location and ideal chef to develop this authentic Italian concept. Chef Anthony DiPascale, who has spent the past year as the Executive Chef of Magrogan’s Harvest Seasonal Grill & Wine Bar in University City, will step into that role. DiPascale, who grew up in South Jersey and worked in his family’s butcher shop from the age of 10 on, has cooked at several award-winning Italian restaurants around Philadelphia, including Aldo Lamberti’s Tutti Tuscani and Max’s Fine Dining in N.J., which earned three bells from Craig LaBan.

Stella Rossa will be the fourteenth restaurant for the award-winning Dave Magrogan Group. Find it later this summer at 20 E. Lancaster Ave. in Downingtown. Menu and more below!
