Railroad Street Bar & Grill and French Quarter Bistro Team Up to Take Over the Fitzwater Station

Hidden along the canal in Port Providence, Fitzwater Station has always been a local hot spot, especially in the warmer seasons. The restaurant is a preferred pick for those looking for a place of rest and food after their water, hiking or biking adventures. In fact, canoe and kayak rentals are available directly from the restaurant, which makes the old time gem a convenient pit-stop.

While their food kept customers happy for quite some time, the place is about to receive a bit of a makeover from two local restaurant gurus who are teaming up to bring great craft beer and a new, inventive menu to Fitzwater Station.

The change, backed by Railroad Street Bar and Grille‘s owner Mike McCloskey and French Quarter Bistro‘s owner Mark Van Horn, will go into effect on February 1st, 2013. They will not close but just change ownership. Also, locals can expect the spot to have better service!

“Expect an exceptional craft beer face lift… surely second to none in the area,” Mark shared about the restaurant’s coming soon qualities. “The menu revamp will feature fine-tuned bar bites and a small dinner menu. Think deep-fried burgers, fried tomatoes, pork osso bucco, chicken and biscuits, and steak frites. Also, we’re considering doing a small play on the waterfront with some dishes, like fried oyster Rockefeller, clams (casino) and spaghetti!”

So far it sounds good to us. Stay tuned to Phoenixville Dish for more juicy details about the “nearly new” food destination and consider stopping by yourself to check out the drool-worthy items and a refreshing craft beer.
