The Uptown! Entertainment Alliance is jazzed to present to you its brand new cocktail hour series, “Women of Jazz.” It’s like happy hour with a twist! With an awesome line-up of musical talent and tickets running just $15, how can you say no? Let us break down for you why these cocktail hours are right up your alley.
The first installment of this jazz cocktail hour series will take place on June 26 at the Knights of Columbus Hall (121 Market St. in West Chester) from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m. to allow those attending the cocktail hour to purchase beverages and some lite edibles before the show begins. Once the lights dim, prepare yourself for an eclectic mix of all things jazz.
Sara Michaels, local jazz and blues musician and host of the event, is excited to bring together such talent on one stage. When asked about the series focusing on women of jazz, Michaels explained that “traditional jazz groups have been predominantly male, but in this series there will be an emphasis on the presence of at least one female in every group.” Michaels also noted there would be heavy emphasis placed on local musicians, including some from the West Chester area.
