Since bursting on the scene in 2013, the Market at Liberty Place has been a local favorite spot to hang out and grab a slice of pizza, wholesome salad, breakfast burrito or a few spirited sips of Pennsylvania wine or beer.
This year, two new vendors have been added to the aisles of the 8,000-square-foot indoor market, and both promise to provide even more ways to satisfy our appetites for the summer season and beyond. Market owner Geoff Bosley says, “We are always excited to bring additional food-based businesses to Kennett Square, in addition to providing a relaxing atmosphere for community members to gather, socialize and have a good time.”
Dylan’s Desserts

Owner Sam Hamdan named his three-month-old business after his pet cat. “I love desserts and I love my cat. I put two and two together and envisioned a solid location where I could bring my favorite local ice cream, cakes and cookies to the community of Kennett,” he explains.
We know it wasn’t quite as simple as that, but we can’t argue that a signature Woodside Farm Creamery “turtle’’-flavored ice cream cone won’t win us over. Sam dips cones, creates floats and constructs a mile-long list of decadent sundaes from the well known and beloved dairy farm in Hockessin, Delaware. Flavors like peppermint chip, chocolate thunder and even Motor Oil (using green caramel!) have already created a host of raving fans.

Other desserts on the menu include just-out-of-the-oven David’s Cookies (once you smell the fresh-baked aroma of these treats, you’ll be tempted to take some home) as well as locally made fork-worthy gourmet pies and cakes.
Sam is excited to be a part of the Market at Liberty Place team and anticipates keeping our summer cool and delectable. Be sure to check out this new spot located next to Kaboburritos Mediterranean Grill.

Squeeze on State Juice Bar

Owner Mat Shook has always been intrigued by the growing wellness industry and healthy eating, which sparked the idea of Squeeze on State. The Market at Liberty Place‘s newest fresh-pressed juice and smoothie bar, which opened May 3, is now a reality.
Mat has never ventured into anything like this before, (he owns Horizon Buildings Solutions, a property management company) and he was looking to invest personally into the local community while working closer to home. The prime location at the front of the market created a perfect storm for success.
Mat hired manager/curator Colleen Kauffman to create the signature smoothie and juice recipes, and has gathered a knowledgeable staff to maintain the integrity of the organic treats.
He enlisted Kennett Middle School art teacher Amanda Conner to design the colorful and energetic chalkboard menu, which lists juices like the Wham (carrot, beet, pineapple, lemon apple and ginger) and the Detox (cucumber, apple, spinach, mint and dandelion) and smoothies that include the Banana Bryce (raw cocoa powder, peanut butter, plant-based protein powder, banana, spinach and coconut milk) and Lavender Love (banana, blueberries, organic bee pollen, dates, lavender and almond milk). Acai bowls, add-ons and made-to-order items round out the menu. Coffees, teas and seasonal baked goods (baked lovingly by Mat’s mom) including zucchini, blueberry, peach and banana goodies are also available.
The space also lends itself to hosting local community events like book clubs and small organizations and Mat sees that as great potential to the area.
