Coming to Philly in 2018: Saige Coffee House in Northern Liberties

Saige Coffee House

Schmidt’s Commons in Northern Liberties is gaining a new coffeehouse concept in mid-winter 2018 with the opening of Saige Coffee House.

The coffee will be sourced from Red House Roasters, and specialty drinks will include cold brew on tap, nitro cold brew, fruit infused, hand-crafted iced teas, single origin pour-overs, many different types of lattes, herbal hot teas, and hand-crafted vegetable and fruit smoothies. As for the food menu, there will be a wide variety of breakfast sandwiches, paninis and salads, which will be available all day, from open to close.

Saige will be committed to using the best possible ingredients in everything they serve and will seek out local, natural, and sustainable ingredients. Guests can look forward to signature ground coffee, locally grown fresh produce, and naturally antibiotic free meat and poultry.

Ehsan Wahdat, CEO of Saige Café, will be offering a spot which is ideal for indulging in food and drink offerings, while also providing an inviting and inspirational environment for patrons to enjoy. The location will have approximately 35 seats, with more seats scheduled for outdoors when the weather permits. The interior will have an industrial look, but with a very warm feeling. Artwork displayed at Saige will be from local artists. The seating in Saige will consist of couches, comfortable chairs and tables with a rustic flair.

There are five Saige locations already in operation and all have the mission to foster an environment that promotes creativity and the arts. The Saige experience moves beyond food and coffee. It offers a platform where community members and students’ talents are displayed and cultivated, inclusive of music, poetry and art. The collaborative relationship that Saige establishes with the community, students, educators and universities is what makes Saige exceptional.

“I have always been passionate about the service industry, and I wanted to create a place where people can gather and feel comfortable and inspired,” said Wahdat. “I feel there is a need for incredible coffee that is not mass-produced.  I am passionate about good coffee that is grown in all parts of the world, and I have always wanted to share that with consumers.  All in all, good coffee is never mass-produced and I want to share that with others.”

Saige Coffee House has a projected opening timeframe of February 2018 at the Piazza at The Schmidt’s Commons, located at 1001 North 2nd Street, Suite 9.
