With gorgeous weather finally here — and we assume you’ve seen Saturday’s forecast — it’s time to plan your weekend! Whether you’re down to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with upscale tequila drinks, or you’re more keen on the Kentucky Derby with a bit of bourbon in your mint julep, we’ve got you covered.
Here are our favorite spots to celebrate both occasions this Saturday, May 5, in Central Pa.:
The Horse Inn’s Kentucky Derby
On Saturday, May 5, The Horse Inn will be closing its restaurant to the public to host its annual Kentucky Derby Party. Tickets are now on sale for this authentic (and delicious) tradition. Tickets are $40 per person and include 2 drinks — we have our minds set on mint juleps, of course — and a tasty buffet of Kentucky-inspired dishes from 4–8 p.m. And remember to dress accordingly, as the winner of the hat contest gets a $75 gift card. Wear your flashiest fascinator or hat and find yourself at the Horse Inn this Kentucky Derby. 540 E. Fulton St., Lancaster; (717) 392-5528

York’s Taste Test Restaurant Incubator is celebrating Cinco de Mayo appropriately in its pop-up cantina this Saturday, and you and all of your friends are invited to join the party. From 1– 10 p.m., enjoy music, specialty palomas, pomegranate margaritas and some delicious food from Nacho Cabra and Taste Test Presents: Paco’s Tacos! Do yourself a favor and definitely check out those menus. What else could you possible need to celebrate Cinco de Mayo? 101 S. Duke St., York; (717) 964-8378
Cassel Vineyards’ Kentucky Derby Party
Don your favorite fascinator and head to Cassel Vineyards for its Kentucky Derby Party, its traditional celebration of spring at the winery, from 3–6 p.m. Enjoy live music from The Northside, drink specials and the beloved hat contest. Blazing Swine Barbeque will be serving up the food we’ve been craving through the cold winter months. Cassel Vineyards will also be debuting its brand new wine slushie machine to really get the party started! 80 Shetland Dr., Hummelstown; (717) 533-2008
Cinco de Mayo and Derby Day at Tattered Flag Brewery and Stillworks
It seems like Tattered Flag couldn’t pick just one reason to celebrate! Get your friends together and meet up at the brewery for specials all day long during this double celebration. It’s bringing its popular margarita flights back, as well as piña coladas and mint juleps, to go along with some favorite Mexican dishes from the kitchen. Don’t forget your best Kentucky Derby day hat! Anyone 21+ who wears one will receive a free mini mint julep! Did we mention the prizes? Everyone in attendance will be able to win. 1 S. Union St., Middletown;(717) 616-8799
Kentucky Derby Party at Mount Gretna Hideaway
Mount Gretna Hideaway is once again hosting its Kentucky Derby Party, starting at noon on Saturday and going all night long. Listen to live music, enjoy mint juleps and beers on special, and enter the hat contest for awesome prizes. There will also be a raffle going on, with proceeds from it and mint julep purchases going to the Humane Society of Lebanon County. Stop by to enjoy your day and help a wonderful, local non-profit. 40 Boulevard Ave., Mount Gretna; (717) 675-7987
