Back in November, PA Eats shared the great news that a new bake shop was coming to downtown Lancaster: Goldie’s Bakery. At that time, owner Mitchell Rae was still working on the renovation of the historic storefront (formerly the Golden Eagle Tavern) on East King Street and he wasn’t sure about an exact opening date.
Well, it looks like the time has finally come for Goldie’s Bakery to open its doors! The grand opening is on Saturday, March 3, with store hours held from 8 a.m.–2 p.m. on both weekend days. We’re excited to try the pastries and sweets (hello, polenta cake!), but we are also pleased to see savory breakfast options on the menu, as well. It’s not a surprise that the menu items go above and beyond average cafe fare, as Rae has done time cooking in some of Lancaster’s best restaurants. Think: Tasty plates like a winter squash shredded potato “bird’s nest” with onion, celeriac and goat cheese and a crispy rice and lentil breakfast dosa crepe with potato puree, green chili and scrambled eggs.
Also, look how cute Goldie’s Bakery is inside!

Looks like a lovely place for study sessions, coffee dates (beans from Square One Coffee, for the win!) and weekend coziness. Stop by this weekend to say hello to the Goldie’s Bakery team!
