The Franklin Ice Cream Bar, an Old City spot with a vintage, late 1930s vibe, is the newest member of the Franklin Fountain family that focuses on custom, made-to-order ice cream bars, other ice cream novelties, custard and grab-and-go pints and quarts. The ice cream bars are all dipped in house-roasted chocolate from its next door sister shop, Shane Confectionery (read: they are insanely good).

This new venture by brothers Eric and Ryan Berley will also incorporate items from Franklin Fountain, serving scoops of the ice cream it’s known for, plus milkshakes and vanilla and chocolate custard.
In addition to a rotation of classic flavors, like mint chip, black raspberry and coconut, look for seasonal flavors, like pumpkin and peppermint stick. And if you’re looking for something to go, freezers in the front of the store hold ice cream pints, quarts and half gallons.
We’re most excited for Franklin Ice Cream Bar’s Keystone bars! These treats are molded in the shape of a keystone (loving that Pennsylvania pride!) and customers can choose vanilla or chocolate ice cream as the base, milk or dark chocolate for the coating and a rotating array of toppings. Toppings include items such as crushed peanut butter sticks, cacao nibs, freeze-dried fruit, gummy bears, sprinkles and bee pollen. Vegan vanilla ice cream is available for the bars, and the dark chocolate dip is vegan. Pre-made bars in flavor combos not offered on the menu will be available in the freezer cases, as well.
Stop by the Franklin Ice Cream Bar Monday through Thursday from 5–11 p.m., Friday from 4–11 p.m., Saturday from 2–11 p.m., and Sunday from 2–10 p.m.
You can find the Franklin Ice Cream Bar at 112 Market St. in Philadelphia; phone: (215) 967-1184.
