This Year at Citizens Bank Park, Don’t Miss ‘The Yard,’ a New Destination for Family Fun

The Philadelphia Phillies and Citizens Bank Park are offering an exciting new kids’ ballpark experience! The 2018 season will introduce The Yard, a new interactive family-fun zone, in addition to more expansions and additions at the ballpark.

The Phillies teamed up with top architects and design consultants to make major upgrades to various areas including:

  • Major League Experiences for Kids: Kids will enjoy an interactive sports-themed experience at The Yard, a 13,000-square foot baseball field that literally gets kids in the game. Highlights include Citizens Bank Phan Field, designed to model the Phillies own major league field, a 30-foot Phanatic Rock Climbing Wall offering a chance to scale city landmarks, and a Hatfield Phanatic Hot Dog Launcher (the same size as the Phanatic’s!) which hits targets with soft-foam hot dogs. Add in a new bullpen speed pitch, dugout, a mini-PhanaVision and Liberty Bell, a Turkey Hill ice cream bar for kids, and more, and it’s going to be hard to convince the kids that they still get to watch the actual game!
  • Celebrating Phillies History: Visit the newly-renovated entrance plaza at left field and experience photo opportunities celebrating moments from the Phillies’ history. Up your social media game by taking selfies with oversized World Series trophies and large retired numbers. And be sure to visit the Toyota Phillies Wall of Fame, relocated to the back of the scoreboard, along with the team’s championship banners. Phillies history will also be celebrated with the new “Throwback Thursdays”: During select Thursday games, the team will sport powder-blue uniforms from the 1980s. Other highlights include pregame celebrations honoring 2018 National Baseball Hall of Fame inductee Jim Thome on June 14, the 25th anniversary of the 1993 National League Champion Phillies on June 10, Chevrolet Father’s Appreciation Day, Toyota Phillies Wall of Fame Night honoring Pat Gillick and the late Roy Halladay on August 4, and the 10th anniversary of the 2008 World Series Champion Phillies on August 5.
  • New Social Spaces and Food Areas: Several new social spaces featuring drink rails, high-top tables and chairs, and television screens have also been added. There are also newly themed food areas, such as the Backyard Bar, offering a variety of local brews near The Yard, and Boardwalk Eats, featuring boardwalk-style concessions in left field. Nearby is the redesigned and relocated Bull’s BBQ, as well as a new patio space that’s perfect to recharge phones. The Bill Giles Party Suites have also been completely redesigned and modernized, with one suite even featuring glass walls and a scenic view of the skyline.

“We are very excited to take the fan experience to the next level,” said David Buck, Phillies Executive Vice President. “We’ve added several attractions that complement our family-fun atmosphere and continue to make Citizens Bank Park a top destination. We can’t wait for our fans to experience all of the new features, food and fun that our ballpark has to offer.”
