PA Dairymen’s Association Launches ‘Cowabunga’ Ice Cream

One side effect of the PA Farm Show going virtual this year is that less PA Dairymen’s milkshakes are in your life. But before you get too bummed out, there is a way to experience the creamy, dreamy milkshakes made famous by the Farm Show Food Court! The Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association has just launched a brand-new specialty premium ice cream, “Cowabunga.” This exciting product comes in two flavors, Vanilla Cowabunga and Chocolate Cowabunga, and are essentially scoopable milkshakes by the pint!

“Imagine a PA Dairymen’s milkshake ‘by the scoop,’ and you’ll understand why this creamy ice cream is a must-have,” says Dave Smith, Executive Director of Pennsylvania Dairymen’s Association. “We are thrilled to share some fun news and our newest PA dairy product with everyone in celebration of our world-class dairy industry, hardworking dairy farmers and the upcoming holiday season and 2021 virtual PA Farm Show.”

Proceeds from the sales of Cowabunga, which will have limited availability, will benefit Pennsylvania agriculture-related charities, along with Feeding PA’s Fill A Glass With Hope fresh milk program for families in need. While supplies last, the pints will be available at nine Karns Foods locations, two Stauffers of Kissel Hill Fresh Foods locations and select other Central PA businesses. Cornerstone Coffeehouse in Camp Hill will feature Cowabunga in hand-dipped cones, dishes and milkshakes, and Lancaster Brewing Company will include it on the menu at its Lancaster and Harrisburg locations. Find the full list of locations where you can purchase Cowabunga ice cream here.

“We are extremely grateful to the Karns family, Stauffers of Kissel Hill, and the other area businesses and restaurants for supporting our state’s dairy and agricultural industries, as well as all of our Pennsylvania philanthropic efforts. We hope that, as everyone shops for their groceries, they will purchase our newest dairy treat and take home a few of our delicious milkshakes to help so many great PA ag programs and meaningful causes,” Smith adds.

“We are excited to partner with the PA Dairymen’s Association to bring those famous milkshakes and this new specialty ice cream to our customers throughout Central Pennsylvania in the coming weeks,” says Andrea Karns, Vice President of Marketing and Sales, Karns Foods. “Stop by and enjoy a delicious milkshake treat outdoors before or after you shop, or take a few home and remember to grab this wonderful new Pennsylvania-produced ice cream for the holidays and for your families.  And remember together, we can support our agricultural community, dedicated farmers, amazing dairy industry, hunger prevention programs and educational scholarships with every milkshake and ice cream purchase.”
