Each year, community members support the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition’s “Northern Lights of Life” Gala through donations, volunteering, sponsorships, and attendance as part of a community effort to come together and take action to defeat breast cancer in their local communities.
This year, the Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition (DBCC) is proud to announce that its 13th Annual Northern Lights of Life: An Evening of Living and Giving Gala will be held at Longwood Gardens on Saturday, October 15 from 6:30 to 10 pm.
“Northern Lights of Life” is the Brandywine Valley’s premier breast cancer fundraising event with all funds benefiting DBCC. The charitable evening will feature gourmet food stations and cocktails, exciting live and silent auctions, live entertainment and an upbeat fashion show featuring models that are local breast cancer survivors. New this year, entertainment will be provided by popular Salisbury-based dance band, On the Edge.
Individual [ticket] reservations are $150 each with different levels of sponsorship beginning at $500. Advertising rates in the event booklet start at $25. Live and silent auction items are donated by local businesses and include unique items ranging from gift certificates to local salons and restaurants to sports memorabilia to vacation packages.
The generous support of the community enabled DBCC to raise over $185,000 at the 2010 Northern Lights of Life event with 500 attendees. The funds were used to expand DBCC’s programs in the local community which increase breast cancer awareness, promote the importance of early detection, provide access to mammograms, and provide support and resources to women and men who have been diagnosed or facing a recurrence with breast cancer.
