Georges Duboeuf is easily one of the most recognized wine merchants in France. His nickname is “le roi du Beaujolais” (“the king of Beaujolais”). He was born into the wine business—his family owned a few acres of Chardonnay vines—and started helping out since age six, when he would crank the manual grape crusher. He took over his family’s winemaking business at just 18 years old and ran with it, or to be more literal, biked with it. He would deliver wines from his family’s vineyards by bicycle from producers to top local restaurants and convince them to carry his family’s wines.

In 1964, Duboeuf founded his own wine merchant company, Les Vins Georges Duboeuf. Today, he produces more than 2.5 million cases of wine annually, has won numerous awards and is credited for popularizing the Beaujolais noveau trend. Beaujolais noveau is a wine made from Gamay grapes and fermented for only a few weeks before being released in late November. You can tell when you’re drinking a Duboeuf wine not just for its exquisite taste, but for its iconic label—each bottle boasts a colorful floral illustration and the Duboeuf insignia.

Already known for its authentic and succulent French cuisine, Bistro Barbaret is pulling out all the stops for this once-in-a-lifetime event. Take a look at the tres délicieux menu!
