Conshy Girls Restaurant Group owner Kim Strengari’s recent discovery of Erica Young’s Pretty Tasty Cupcake Boutique in Cape May, New Jersey last summer led to a joint collaboration which would bring a Pretty Tasty Cupcakes shop across the Delaware River to Conshohocken.
Strengari reached out to Young with an offer she said she couldn’t refuse, and the pair joined forces with Gabby Wallace, a corporate catering and event planner, to open Conshohocken’s newest sweets shop, Pretty Tasty Cupcakes, a 100% nut-free bakery.
A Cape May native, Young began her baking career due to the unfortunate allergy of her then six-year-old son, Nevan, who has a severe peanut and tree nut allergy. Young started making cupcakes which Nevan could safely enjoy and she shared her cupcakes with family, friends and co-workers, who all responded with rave reviews. Eventually, the cupcake-creation activity turned into a full-time gig and Young opened up Pretty Tasty Cupcake Boutique in Cape May.
For the new location in Conshohocken, Head Baker Ali Albini will lead the kitchen and will be rolling out six flavors to start, along with daily selections: chocolate salted caramel, cookie dough brownie, sugar cookie snowflake, pink Champagne, lemon berry and hot cocoa. The flavors will change seasonally, and the bakery will offer other items, including homemade chocolate chip cookies and colorful macarons. Strengari and Wallace will oversee the daily operations in Conshohocken, and Young will develop more flavors from her shop in Cape May.
Pretty Tasty Cupcakes is now open, just in time for Valentine’s Day, and Albini has created some very tasty treats which will melt your heart at first bite.
“I have been eating cupcakes all of my life,” says Strengari, while laughing. “But, I have never tasted anything as delicious as Erica’s Pretty Tasty Cupcakes. I knew that I had to expand her offerings and bring them here to Conshohocken and beyond!”
Pretty Tasty Cupcakes is open Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m.–6 p.m., and Saturday, 9 a.m.–3 p.m. The completely nut-free cupcake shop will offer gluten-free items on Saturdays and upon request. The shop will also offer custom-made cupcakes and cakes for all occasions.
