Now Open in Philly: The International

The International, the latest love child from Standard Tap and Johnny Brenda’s owners, is now open in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia.

The International

You can find The International at 1624 North Front Street, the former home to Shenanigans Under the El. The bi-level space has a bar on each floor; the downstairs bar offers a casual, minimalist aesthetic with a DJ booth. Upstairs, there’s the Service Bar, with a 70’s-inspired feel and a creative cocktail program, including drinks made with the bar’s very own rye, a collaboration with Rowhouse Spirits. As far as wine goes, get excited for the 24-tap Cruvinet Winebar system with a nicely curated selection from around the world, as well as fortified wines, like our fave vermouth from Lo Fi Aperitifs.

Unlike JB’s and Standard Tap, The International’s beer program will focus on a global selection. For spirits, it’s sticking primarily with local brands. The food menu from Chef Paul Lyons is snack-heavy — think skewers, cheese-topped crostini, beet-cured salmon gravlax and handful of sandwiches.

The International is open from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m., Tuesday through Sunday, and closed on Mondays. Pro tip: Don’t forget to check out the right-angled shuffle board upstairs. It’s a must-try!

Find The International at 1624 N. Front St. in Philadelphia.
