Crush Cancer Wine Festival is Pivoting to Become Chester County’s First Wine & Spirits Tour

COVID-19 restrictions mean that fundraising organizers are having to get creative with ways to keep supporters engaged without large gatherings. One local organization that’s made an excellent pivot is The Women’s Auxiliary to Chester County Hospital. For the last nearly 30 years, they’ve held the Crush Cancer Wine Festival, the county’s premier annual wine event, at Dilworthtown Inn. This year, they are reimagining the occasion as the 29th Annual Crush Cancer Wine & Spirits Tour of Chester County.

In place of a large, festive party, this fun wine tour of local wineries, breweries, distilleries and dining establishments will take place throughout October, with proceeds to benefit The Abramson Cancer Center at Chester County Hospital. The Crush Cancer Wine & Spirits Tour of Chester County combines the great food and beverages and beautiful scenery of the Wine Festival, and giving supporters a safe way to enjoy it all during a full month.

The Crush Cancer Passport gives participants access to tastings at over 18 stops throughout Chester County. The weekly passports, which cost between $25 and $50, depending on the level chosen, is valued at more than $200, with stops at local treasures, like Harvest Ridge Winery & Rebel Seed Cider in Toughkenamon, Suburban Brewing Co. in Honey Brook, and Brandywine Branch Distillers in Elverson. See here for the full list of participating locations.

Here’s how it works: Purchase a passport at one of two levels. The VIP Wine Tour Passport is $50 and with the Passport, from October 1, 2020 through November 1, 2020, receive access to a complimentary tasting at wineries (5-oz. glass of wine), dining establishments (5-oz. glass of wine), breweries (12-oz. beer) and distilleries (1.5-oz. liquor). That’s a whole month of tasty local sips! Or, for $25, receive a Weekly Passport that provides the same tastings, but for just one week at a time.

Proceeds from the Crush Cancer Wine & Spirits Tour help to sustain services and world-class care offered at the Abramson Cancer Center for patients battling cancer. As part of Penn Medicine, Abramson Cancer Center offers the latest treatment protocols and cutting-edge technology with an outstanding medical staff, clinical team, nurse navigators and hospital volunteers. The hospital works to give each patient every edge in their battle with cancer, including assistance for those who are uninsured and underinsured.
