Now Open in Landenberg: 1723 Vineyards

Growing up in the midwest, Ben and Sarah Cody never imagined they’d one day have their own vineyard in a quiet part of Pennsylvania. But, on Saturday, June 23, the couple opened the doors to their brand new winery, 1723 Vineyards, LLC.

Their journey begain in 2015, when they started growing grapes on their 11-acre property. The Codys are both 5th-generation farmers from the Midwest, with a passion for great wine and working with their hands. Together, the couple brings years of experience to their vineyard, as Sarah grew up on a corn and soybean crop farm, and Ben spent his childhood on a cattle and fruit farm.

Fast-forward a few years after cultivation began, and the vineyard now specializes in premium Mid-Atlantic wines, thanks in part to the Codys’ travels in Virginia, which inspired the couple to open their own vineyard. They even worked with staff at Virginia Tech University to research possible land in Pa. Sarah saw the potential of Landenberg to replicate the same quality of vineyards in Virginia and even Europe.

1723 Vineyards consist of seven acres planted on the historic McMaster Darm in Landenberg, Pa., with an additional three acres planted on the historic Ford Farm, both located near the historical village of Kemblesville, right off Route 896. McMaster Farm was saved from high-density development and has been placed in the Chester County Agricultural Land Preservation program.

Save the date for 1723 Vineyards’ grand opening celebration on Saturday, August 4! The vineyard will be filled with fun: music, raffle prizes, sangria, the RoadRancher food truck, and of course, wine. You can also visit 1723 Vineyards on Saturdays from noon–5 p.m. to enjoy the view — and Pennsylvania-crafted wines — at 1723 Vineyards.

You can find 1723 Vineyards at 5 McMaster Blvd. in Landenberg; phone: (888) 330-0526.
