Pennsylvania Kitchen at Home: Vegan Chickpea Noodle Soup with Don’t Burn Yourself

We’re excited to share a new PA-based YouTube cooking series: Don’t Burn Yourself! This is a joint project between Chef Jeff Grey and PatchTown Films. Grey is local chef who started cooking in Lancaster five years ago, and was most recently working for Plough and The Exchange at the Lancaster Marriott. PatchTown is a Lancaster-based media production company specializing in music videos and business videos. When asked why they chose to collaborate, Grey says, “We’ve been friends for years and wanted to do something in video format. Since they’re wildly talented at what they do, and I love teaching and cooking, we thought we’d give a channel a go.”

As it’s getting established as a channel, Don’t Burn Yourself plans to release a new video every other Monday. Its first video is an easy, nutritious Chickpea Noodle Soup, a meat-free play on chicken noodle soup. Using common types of produce like onions, celery, carrots and kale, and pantry staples like noodles, canned chickpeas and turmeric, Grey puts together a big comforting pot of nutrient-dense, soul-sustaining soup that can be your lunch or dinner for the next week! (Feel free to substitute any ingredients as necessary.) Sprinkled with silly jokes and helpful tips, Grey is a natural host, and we appreciate how he breaks down each step of the process. Give the video a watch, and try out the technique! Let us know how it turns out on the PA Eats Facebook page, and don’t forget to subscribe to Don’t Burn Yourself on YouTube for more accessible, delicious recipes from these creative PA folks.
